Must Haves: What I’m Buying From Zara For Fall 2018

Friday, September 7, 2018

Since last week’s post about fall trends at H&M was so popular, I wanted to let you all in on what I’m buying from Zara.

Ah Zara, I’ve had a love affair with this store since I was a young girl. Yes there were some rough times when we weren’t as close, but things have been heating up in the last few months and I just had to tell somebody about it!

But seriously, it’s been a long time since I’ve walked into a Zara and was ready to buy the whole store (and trust me a thought about it). Last week I stopped by to see what was new in store and there’s nothing Zara does better than fall dressing. For all the fashion girls who can’t afford the looks off of runways like Chanel or Gucci, Zara has got you covered. From vibrant silk blouses to tweed sets, and all of the key trends in between, you’re options are unlimited for the season!

What I love most about Zara is that for a high street store, they really do push the limits with their clothing. Instead of staying the same and safe with knitwear and trousers, they’ve added so many interesting details to their clothing that just leaves them looking more expensive.

Again, for those of you who are living in this extended summer like myself, you might not be ready to give up on your summer wardrobe just yet, but I can’t help but get excited when I see layering and beautiful outerwear that I always loved from Zara.

So what am I buying from Zara? Well, you’ll soon find out!

BEFORE YOU SHOP

Before you start adding multiple items to your cart and watching your total skyrocket, there are some pieces I really try not to buy from Zara. The reasoning is that they're generally priced higher than necessary. Especially for shoes and handbags, some of the pieces are so expensive, that I would just save my money and opt for a more luxury brand's piece. I love what Zara offers in store, but the pricing can be (a tad) outrageous for certain pieces.
  1. Basics
  2. Shoes / Handbags *
*This might change when Zara has an end of season sale. Then, the lowered cost are worth my interest that I might find a cute pair of shoes for a decent price.

NOW LET’S GET SHOPPING
Note: All images are from www.zara.com

Item #1: Cropped Pants

There are key items that I know Zara does well, and trousers are definitely one of them. To own trousers that fit well without being too tight is something that has become difficult to find in other stores. Either you have pants that are too big in places so they don’t fit, or they’re so tight that eating the smallest meal would have you feeling like you’re about to explode. Either one is definitely not a good look.

For a while I have been on the hunt for a cropped trouser, and then I found these. Not only is this probably my colour the season (as always), I love the wide cropped hem. Something about them seems so classic yet have this modern fit that I can’t wait to pair with oxford loafers or even ankle boots.

Item #2: Faux Leather Mini Skirt

I promise this is the last item in this post that is in khaki (I have a problem I know). Now I own a similar style of skirt in black leather, except its a pencil skirt so it is longer in length. As much as I love my original skirt, having a shorter version seems better for day to day wear. I love how it’s “leather”, but not a dark shade of it. I really want to stay away from wearing just black or grey in the cooler months, so my wardrobe has slowly become more lighter neutral tones.

This will be perfect to wear with chunky knits when it finally cools down, and pairing it with blazers to add that bit of menswear inspiration that I love. For footwear, I would take on those hot fall trends and wear this with either a cowboy (inspired) boot or combat boot, depending on what type of mood I was in.

Item #3: Checkered Blazer

I swear Zara blazers, if cared for, can last you for years! There’s something about the quality that just can’t be compared to other high street stores. This is definitely a trendier item, but I personally think a blazer (even with a print) will never go out of style. Whether its styling it with trousers, jeans, dresses, etc. the sky is the limit with what you can do with a blazer to make it unique to your personal style.

Item #4: Cropped Bootcut Jeans

This is the perfect in between style for those who want to own something that isn’t a straight leg or skinny fit, without stepping too far out of the comfort zone. I personally like the fit of flared jeans. I think it can be really flattering for most people (as skinny fit can sometimes just be too tight).

The cropped hem is something I started wearing more of last year and really enjoy it. I find it flattering and again it’s more of a modern fit to your everyday denim.

Item #5: Snake Print Skirt

This skirt is again more of a trendier item that you might not wear past this year, but there’s something about it that just draws me in. The neutral tones used in the print make it less daunting to wear and it definitely has the potential to be versatile in your wardrobe. Whether it’s with chunky knitwear, a leather jacket, or even a blazer, this skirt can be moulded and transformed to fit anyone’s style.

Leave me a comment below of which of these pieces you loved the most!
