OOTD: Off Duty Minimalism

off duty, model, Montreal, minimalism, boyfriend jeans, body suit, summer, street style, personal style,

Today marks the "relaunch" of Belles Reveries.
After a few weeks of feeling unmotivated and in a funk, I decided to take a step back and reassess what I want from this platform. I created this blog because I needed something to share my love and passion for all things fashion. I share more about this in my recently updated About page, but the main idea is that fashion has truly defined who I am throughout all phases in life. So, from now on my content is back to being fashion focused and giving you all the 411 on everything related to runway, street style, and everything in between.

INSPIRATION: 90s MINIMALISM, MODEL OFF DUTY

One of the first places I go for fashion inspiration is photos of models when they're off duty. There's something about the simplicity of their personal styles that I love. It's relatable fashion that can be worn comfortably and still look good in. You won't see them strutting on their days off in head to toe high fashion, it's more like denim, combat boots, and cute accessories.

The 90s/early 00s has been a huge trend all through the summer, from the return of the fanny pack, tiny sunglasses, and cute matching sets... the 90s can be seen everywhere! I recently shared my love for the era of simple silhouettes over on my facebook page! You'll see lots of denim, black tops, mini dresses.... the list goes on!

So my #OOTD is inspired by those 90s model off duty looks by wearing my favourite pair of high-rise boyfriend fit jeans and a simple black tank. The heatwave we've been experiencing here in Montreal has been rough (AF), but even with heavy humidity, I walked around comfortably.

MODERN ACCESSORIES

What makes this "current" are the accessories. Layering rose gold necklaces is a trend that I need to wear more often. Layering delicate pieces seems like the right balance with this outfit since it adds some sparkle without overloading my neck to make it seem bulky.

Next, my purse. Oh this purse, I love it so much and it's probably the least convenient piece in my closet. The tiny bag within the clear case can hold about a few cards, my phone, and a pack of gum (maybe a gloss, MAYBE). But I love the lavender/grey colour of the bag with the pop of rose gold in the metal handles.

Right now my closet has ruffles, florals, and pretty much screams extra. It's nice to take a step back and just get back to basics (without looking basic).
