Recreating Ariana Grande's Makeup: Peachy Bronze Glow

Wednesday, July 4, 2018

Ariana Grande has been a beauty inspiration of mine for years! Between the different ponytail hairstyles and the fresh makeup she is known for, Ariana is definitely a beauty trendsetter.

This next phase in Ariana’s career musically has also brought a new phase in her beauty evolution. I was immediately drawn to this look that has been created for her new album. The peach tones for the eyes and lips have aways been something I wanted to try so what better way than trying to recreate this look!

I love how natural the overall look is, but if you look closer at the photo of her, you can see how her eyes have a light dusting of colour as well as some shine. The peach tones are then pulled out again in the lipstick.

The overall look appears wearable, because of the rest of the face makeup. Creating a natural, dewy, and bronzy makeup thanks to the tones used in the bronzer, blush, and highlight. Together it is a great way to add colour and play with different shades of makeup without appearing too overdone.

Pair this makeup with a sleek ponytail with a side part is a modern take on Ariana’s original ponytail. Together, the look could be worn day or night especially right now in the summer months. This was also a great opportunity to try out some new purchases I made from Sephora, so I'll include a mini review of those too!

Whether you're a fan or not of her music, you can't deny Ariana Grande's beauty!

Let’s get into the tutorial!

New Products

As I mentioned, I recently went to Sephora and made some purchases. I was looking to buy a new eyeshadow palette and lipstick, but for the longest time I didn’t have a clear direction of what exactly I wanted. After seeing that photo of Ariana’s makeup, I decided I wanted to find a warmer peach tone palette as well as a lipstick that isn’t my usual rosy-nude shade.

I already owned a Too Faced palette (Chocolate Bar), and as much as I enjoy it, I wanted to step away from that brand and try something completely different…. and then I found this Huda Beauty palette.

This palette is named the Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette in the shade Coral. Yes, okay it’s technically not a peach palette, but the eyeshadows inside are the perfect balance between bright peach, pink, and orange mattes as well as some interesting duo chrome shades.

In regards to the application, the eyeshadows are definitely pigmented. I especially loved the duo chrome shimmers, the one I used on my lid really played up the coral effect as the duo chrome was in an orange and pink.

The second new product that I used to create this was the lipstick. It was from Sephora’s own collection and it was one of the cream lip stains. Now since this is not exactly a lipstick, the consistency is a lot thinner, but the colour payoff was impressive. Having a lighter shade, it is expected for them to be watery or lack pigmentation. I found this applied really creamy on the lips and dried down as a matte. Even wearing it for a bit, the lip stain was tacky but with that my lips didn’t feel dry or chapped after wearing it.

How To: Peachy Bronze Makeup

Starting with the eyes, I used the one palette from Huda Beauty. Using three shades, 2 mattes and a shimmer, I used the lightest mattes to create the base for the eye. I then blended it with the next lightest shade making sure to keep it neutral with a creamy peach undertone. Finally using my finger tip, I applied the duo chrome shimmer lightly across my lid. I then took the same shade I used before to re-blend everything as well as take that shade on my lower lash line to smoke it all out.

Add some liner to my lash line and mascara and you’re all set! Now in the photo Ariana is definitely using falsies, so if you’re wearing this look more for a night out, I would definitely add the lashes!

Moving onto the face I kept things super simple and light. Instead of using a foundation I used a concealer to add some light coverage to the face. I then applied a lighter concealer to brighten under my eye as well as the bridge of nose and forehead.

Next I went straight into bronzer to create some dimension. In the photo, Ariana does have some definition but not anything extreme. The bronzer is used more to add colour to my complexion by placing it strategically to frame my face and on my upper cheekbones.

I then used a pale nude blush as I didn’t want any other colour on my face since my eyes and lips will be the focal point. I also stayed in the same colour family with the highlight - focusing just on the tops of my cheekbones.

The result is a super dewy and bronzed face makeup that is perfect for any summer occasion.

Finally for lips, I used a liner, stain, and gloss to achieve Ariana’s look. I started off by lining my lips to accentuate their shape. I then took that Sephora lip stain to give me the same base colour Ariana has. Finally to add some shine, I used a gloss with some shimmer in it.

And there you have the overall look!

This makeup recreation was really simple since I focused on using a specific amount of products and keeping my base really light. I personally find that in the warmer months I want to stay away from heavy layers of makeup. Even with the best setting spray, you will have to touch up continuously to make sure you still look flawless.

Instead, I like using thin layers of face products and applying bronzer to areas that the sun would naturally hit. This will give your skin the appearance of a sun kissed glow.

I hope you enjoyed this mini tutorial of Ariana Grande’s Peach Bronze makeup and be sure to catch her new album that is coming out in August!
