Beauty Favourites: From Skincare to Haircare, here’s what I’m Enjoying

beauty, fashion, lifestyle, Montreal, fenty beauty, hole bronzer, batiste dry shampoo, garner hair mask, beauty favourites, haul, shopping,

I know my last favourites post was only in April, but I’m bringing you a variety of products this time!

Instead of focusing on just one type of product like makeup, haircare, skincare, etc. I figured it would be fun to do it all! Since I’m not always buying new makeup or focusing on trying new skincare, it can become difficult to keep updating you with favourites posts that are focused on one area of the beauty world.

At this point, my beauty routines have become extremely minimalistic. I’m all about finding the products that really work for me and I can rely on. Everything down to the minimal makeup I shared with you in a recent post and my minimalistic approach to keeping my hair and skin healthy. I’ll make sure to link below all of my most recent routines in beauty to give you a clear idea of how I really try to keep it down to the bare minimum.

This might just be me, but I like to keep it simple in the summer. Let my skin get a natural sun kissed look, not fussing over how my hair looks, and just letting my skin breathe. There’s something about the warm air, sitting outside by the pool, and just being completely relaxed is when I end up feeling my most confident.

The products I’ve included in this favourites post are all about simple steps which just elevate my natural look.

Makeup

Fenty Hu$tla Baby Highlighter

beauty, fashion, lifestyle, Montreal, fenty beauty, hole bronzer, batiste dry shampoo, garner hair mask, beauty favourites, haul, shopping,

It’s probably no surprise to you all that my first favourite is not only makeup, but is a highlighter.  I purchased a Fenty gift set last month because I wanted to try some of the products without making the commitment of buying full sizes. In this set, you would get both a highlighter and a gloss, now I love both products, but this highlighter is just stunning in the sunlight! It is the best shade of highlight for anyone looking for that summer glow.

What highlighter is it, you ask? It’s Fenty Beauty’s Killawatt Freestyle highlighter in shade Hu$tla Baby. This highlighter is a champagne peachy shade that just makes your skin look like gold when the sun reflects off of it. I would add a light brushing of this product to the highpoint of my cheeks, shoulders, collarbone … honestly if I could dip myself in this highlighter to be covered head to toe, I would.

That’s how incredible it is! It makes your skin appear flawless and radiating light without looking chalky or too glittery. For all of you that aren’t into those heavy highlighters this will be more than a natural look, but not extreme enough where you look like a beam of light is across your face.

Benefit’s Hoola Bronzer

Another product I bought the trial size of was the Hoola Bronzer. Now I know this is a cult favourite in the beauty community, but I have heard that this can be a little too warm on some skin tones. My hopes were to find a higher end bronzer that wasn’t going to apply patchy on my skin and just leave it looking sun kissed.

I get why people love this bronzer so much. It’s a matte bronzer which I highly recommend to you all. I use a shimmery bronzer for when I’m performing or competing, but if you’re looking for an every day bronzer than you need to go matte. The product applies like silk to the face, and because of it being a matte shade, it’s not competing with your blush or highlighter.

The result after using this bronzer is having that healthy glow with a flush of colour without looking like I dunked my head in a bag of Cheetos. If you have a fairer complexion than me, I would suggest using a light hand when applying this, but the product itself won’t get chalky or appear dry if you build the colour up on your face.

Skincare

Kate Somerville Cold Cream Moisturizing Cleaner & Makeup Remover

beauty, fashion, lifestyle, Montreal, fenty beauty, hole bronzer, batiste dry shampoo, garner hair mask, beauty favourites, haul, shopping,

This was a random product I received as a promotional gift after one of my Sephora hauls. I had never heard of this brand before and at the time I was trying out another product which had a similar concept. What intrigued me about these products to begin with was the idea of applying this cream to your face with all of your makeup on, and the product works to break down your makeup to cleanse the skin.

I use this product as the first step in my cleansing process. In the past, I found that many cleansers couldn’t remove my makeup (let alone tough products like mascara) from my face without leaving my skin feeling irritated afterwards… and still not even 100% clean.

To be honest I didn’t expect it to work, but with a small amount of cream applied all over, I massage it into the skin and then remove it with with wet cloth. After the very first time using this, I could see my makeup breaking down and the harder products like mascara and liquid lipsticks were even removed.

Now like I said, this is my step one in the cleansing process, I will then go in with an exfoliator afterwards to make sure everything has been removed. The difference now is that my skin after cleansing isn’t dry or irritated. Even after the second cleansing! Because this is a moisturizer & cleanser it really does make a difference in my skin’s appearance and texture.

Garnier 1 Minute Hair Mask

beauty, fashion, lifestyle, Montreal, fenty beauty, hole bronzer, batiste dry shampoo, garner hair mask, beauty favourites, haul, shopping,

I purchased this product awhile ago, and I always meant to share my full review over on my instagram stories. Since I fist purchased this mask, I have noticed that my hair isn’t as brittle and dry as it was before.

Even though my hair is significantly shorter, I have been colouring it on a regular basis. Therefore, the harsh dyes as well as the constant styling for everyday or even my dance competitions was taking a toll on my hair.

I specifically use the Repairing treatment with Papaya extract in it, and I use this mask as a leave in conditioner after I shower. Already when I was my hair, I make sure to use a deep conditioner that also protects my colour, so I felt that the best way for me to use this product would be as a leave in so my hair gets the full benefits.

Batiste Dry Shampoo - Fragrance Collection

beauty, fashion, lifestyle, Montreal, fenty beauty, hole bronzer, batiste dry shampoo, garner hair mask, beauty favourites, haul, shopping,

The final product in this favourites post, is dedicated to the one product that literally saves my hair especially when the weather is hot and humid and my hair is becoming flat and feeling oilier sooner. I needed something that will keep my hair looking fresh!

I try not to dry out my hair by washing it everyday, but that can become difficult when I am training everyday as well as competing and travelling. I bought this dry shampoo on a whim, but I was hesitant over whether it would work and if it would just dry out my hair.

I absolutely love this product, and I now know why so many of you live for that dry shampoo! I went with the fragrance collection, because I’m one of those people that loves the smell of fresh hair after a shower. I went with Blush, which is a sweet floral fragrance and WOW.

You have to be a fan of this type of smell to appreciate it, but my hair feels light as air when I expected it to weigh down because of extra product AND it smells like spring in a bottle! This product recharges my hair with a new life full of body and volume without feeling tacky or brittle like similar products I’ve used in the past.
