November Beauty Favourites

As November ends and December begins, I had to take this opportunity to share my favourite products from the past month.

I really enjoy doing these favourites posts, only because it also gives me the opportunity to reflect on the past month as I go through which products I enjoyed the most. The month of November was a hectic time. I spent majority of my month and months leading up to it training for the last major dance competition of the year, and when I wasn’t training, I was working on content for my blog. In the midst of the running around from dance class to dance class, trying to fit in as many training sessions and practices as I could, I still had plenty of opportunities to try different products and discover some new (and old) favourites. I have to be honest with you all, this is mostly a beauty focused favourites, since these are the products I generally use day to day (and I spent a lot of time in workout clothes). Something that’s also exciting, and wasn’t planned, was that about 90% of the products mentioned in this post can be found at the drugstore! It was a great month for affordable beauty products.

Now let’s get into my November favourites!

Setting sprays are what started what I didn’t know would become an obsession with face mists. The concept of a spray bringing moisture back to your while setting your makeup is absolutely brilliant. While shopping I came across this face mist from Hard Candy. I’ve been a fan of Hard Candy for awhile, their makeup is great quality for its prices, so I was really excited to try this mist. The fun part was that this mist is used to prime your face and is made with coconut water. For someone with combination skin that can be dry in the cooler months, this has really come in handy. I don’t enjoy those primers that end up clogging up my pores and just feel heavy under all of my makeup. I tested this mist all through November and my makeup lasted just as well as a regular primer. My makeup didn’t feel heavy and the coconut water provided the necessary hydration so my face wouldn’t be irritated from my makeup after a long day.

I’m sure all of you by now sense that I am a fan of moisturizing my skin and keep it feeling soft and hydrated. One of my favourite stores to shop at is Bath & Beauty Works. From the bath products to candles and of course the body lotions, I normally can't leave this place empty handed. In October I purchased a variety of fall scents that smelt of pumpkin spice and salted caramel, but I also purchased a travel size hand cream that has become a staple in my purse. This is a hand cream made with Shea butter, almond milk, coconut water and marshmallow.  I really can’t stop using this product. The scent is light and sweet, while the cream itself leaves my skin feeling like silk. I will definitely have to go back to find the lager size of this cream.

I’ve owned this perfume for awhile, and generally, my love for certain scents changes with the seasons. Recently, I found myself coming back to Flowerbomb and I forgot how much I love it. The sweet floral scent that is oh so feminine is perfect for just about any occasion. It’s a versatile scent in the way that it can be worn day or night, as either a feminine or sultry aroma. I love how it sets throughout the day and it doesn’t hurt that the bottle is absolutely stunning either.

Something I never thought I would fine let alone try would be makeup from Ardell. I generally enjoy their lashes, but I was really interested in how their makeup would measure up. I bought two brow products and the fibre brow mascara was definitely an instant favourite. Firstly (and most importantly) it kept my brown in place. Having naturally larger brows to begin with, you need a product that will keep them in place all day. Other great aspects of this product is that I can wear this without using a pencil or pomade to fill in my brows, because this products builds up your natural brows with fibres. The more I use this product, the less I use other brow products because this does the job on its own.

Blending Brushes

I’ve always heard positive review of Morphe products, but never took it upon myself to actually buy any of their products. At the end of October I purchased two blending brushes and a palette (which I’ll be discussing next). I ended up using these brushes for a variety of different looks, and wow the quality of these brushes is amazing! I currently own two blending brushes; the MB23 and M200 . One is fluffier than the other, so they provide different types of blending powers. Of the two, I especially love using MB23. These brushes pick up colour beautifully and apply it smoothly onto the lid. I’ve experienced brushes that have left strokes and patches, even when the eyeshadow product is of great quality. I definitely will be investing in more of their brushes in the future, because the price is affordable and the results are undeniable.

The palette I can’t stop sharing on Instagram. It has become my go to for pretty much any kinds of look. This palette can be used for the simples of looks, to brown tone smokey eyes, and the dramatic look needed for competition day. The shadows are buttery to the touch and apply with huge pigment (please use a light hand with some shades, I learnt the hard way). I love the combination of warm tones with the cool tone browns, it allows you to try any possible makeup look with this palette. I’m not somebody who steps out of the box in the sense that I’ll use bright colours for everyday looks, therefore I need a palette that can be used for day to day looks. This, by far, beats any high end palette I currently own. Anyone who is looking for a great palette, even if you’re not adventurous with your makeup, this one is affordable and beyond versatile.

I feel like I have gained a lot of experience with working with makeup. No product alone scares me or intimidates me. I’ll try every type of product at least once without thinking twice about it, but I have a fear of false lashes. The whole process gives me anxiety. From applying the glue to then trying to stick on the lashes properly (without it being crooked on the eye), I have to give myself a pep talk to get through it. Normally, the process ends with one eye looking wonkey, and the glue has messed up the rest of my eye makeup. This usually leaves me feeling frustrated and usually having to start over. I found these false lashes and even the biggest beginner to makeup will be able to apply these. They are fool proof lashes! The Ever EZ pack comes with two sets of lashes that are made from real lashes and also comes with the applicator. One of the aspects which made a huge difference was that these lashes have a clear band. This means that even if your application isn’t perfect, it won’t ruin your overall look. The applicator is what makes this fool proof. It allows you have to full control over the lashes without 1) worrying about stabbing yourself in the eye with tweezers 2) flattening the lashes over your eye if you were to use your fingers. I can’t wait to by different styles from this brand because it allowed me to feel like a pro at wearing falsies.

This was a last minute addition to my monthly favourites. I purchased this polish last week and I already know it is going to be a favourite for the winter season. Of all my nail polishes, I spent most of my summer and early fall wearing L’Oreal Paris’ Jardins des Roses. I was obsessed with the rose tone pink on my nails, but as the seasons changed and the summer faded, it no longer felt like the right season to wear this shade. I moved onto other nude tones that I previously owned, but it lacked the punch of colour I wanted to bring some life to my hands without being a deep shade which can easily chip or become messy when trying to remove it. I finally found my winter pink nail polish, Revlon’s nail polish in shade Romantique. It’s a muted pink, which resembles my other nude toned shades, but still has that pop of rosy pink that I love.

Let me know in the comments what you’ve been enjoying this November and what you’re looking forward to next month!

  1. Facial mists are an amazing invention. Especially right now, my skin gets so dry from the cold.

  2. My eye caught the primer and palette. I really like ingredients in primer, an amount and Shea butter combination is a dream. With that palette you can create some amazing combinations. My winner this month is foundation from Bourjois and NYX lipsticks!
